Modes: AI Personalities for Different Workflows
Think of modes as different configurations of Caiioo tailored to different tasks. Each mode has its own system prompt, tools, variables, and personality. Switch modes to switch how the AI behaves and what it can do.

How to Switch Modes
- Click the mode name in the top header (where it says "Caiioo" or "Shopping Agent")
- Pick a different mode from the dropdown
- Start a new conversation—it'll use the new mode
Head's up: Switching modes only affects new conversations. Old threads keep whatever mode they started with.
Customize a Mode
Want to fine-tune a mode? Go to Settings and look for Mode Configuration:
| Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Model | Which AI model the mode uses for conversations |
| Helper Model | A lighter model for auxiliary tasks like summaries, naming, and UI generation |
| System Prompt | The core instructions the AI follows in this mode |
| Temperature | How creative (higher) or focused (lower) the AI is |
| Max Iterations | How many turns the agent can take before stopping |
| Enabled Tools | Which tools the AI can use |
| Mode Variables | Custom info for this mode only |
Pro tip: Mode settings are grouped in Settings > Mode Configuration, where you can customize the system prompt, temperature, tools, and variables for each mode. Shopping Agent ships with a locked configuration tuned for deal-hunting; Workplace is fully customizable. Pro subscribers can also create their own custom modes from scratch.
Editing a Mode You Don't Own (Fork on Edit)
You can tweak any mode—even built-in ones or modes that came from a Hub app. The moment you edit a mode you don't own, Caiioo quietly forks it into a personal copy. The original is never touched, and your edits stick.
This solves an old gotcha: changes to a mode's system prompt used to get wiped every time you switched modes. Now they're durable, because your fork carries the new default.
When you're looking at a forked mode in Settings, you'll see a banner reading "Forked from {Mode Name} — your copy" with a Reset to original button next to it. Click Reset to delete your personal copy and bring back the unmodified source mode.
Your forked modes live in Settings > Tools, Modes & Apps > My Apps, where you can edit every part of them. See Personal Apps for the full editor.
